Anyone recommend any online resources or books for dieting? I am at
first looking for something to help count up my carbs, protein, and
overall calories. Then hopefully from there a plan to trim some
stuff out of my diet or replace it with better food. I know there are
a million things out there but I am not looking for extreme or fad
diet plans. I am looking for changes I can stick with over the long
term.

Are you familiar with Excel? It's a Microsoft Office spreadsheet
application. You can get the information from food labels & enter it into a
spreadsheet in Excel. From there, 30 minutes of reading through the help
section should get you the knowledge you need to manipulate the data as
required and add some simple formulae as required.

Thanks to both of you. This should make it easier to analyze my
existing diet and make changes.

Yeah I had already started doing that. I am planning to use it for
calculating my typical days food intake. I may also use it for meal
planning since many of the foods I eat are the same.
Real foods like steak, fruit, mushrooms, etc. don't come with convent
food labels. Neither do restaurants. I consider real foods healthy
so I do not want to eliminate them from my diet.
I suspect there are simple changes I can make like eliminating bread
from my dinner. I won't really know until I put all the data
together.
